Situation
As a leading trauma physician states, "Patients do not suddenly deteriorate, rather, we suddenly notice." The Inspectra StO2 notices and alerts overworked, multitasking professionals. In short, this product helps save lives by identifying when trauma patients may go into a non-recoverable and fatal state of shock.
Previous technologies to get similar readings required a catheter inserted into the heart, potentially a deadly solution, so rarely used. The Inspectra StO2 utilizes light, which is painless and accurate.

Worrell worked with Hutchinson to create a light-weight, portable, rugged monitor designed for healthcare professionals in the trauma and emergency medicine environment in the first hours of patient arrival. The key drivers for the program were to reduce maintenance calls and units taken out of service and to build a brand essence of quality, reliability and ease-of-use.
The monitor is literally surrounded by a half-inch of soft elastomeric bumper material, the material combined with the rock solid triangular shape gives the $20,000 device unsurpassed protection in the chaotic environment in which it lives. Details such as the large, easy to grip-grab-and-twist pole clamp handle and the intuitive graphical user interface add up to be an award winning product.
