Human Factors Engineering Intern (Minneapolis)

Worrell is currently seeking a passionate and talented Human Factors Engineer Intern to join our Minneapolis team.

As a part of our Human Factors group you will interact with the internal teams (HFE, Industrial Design, Research, Engineering and Marketing) to help identify usability issues and participate in formative and summative usability studies, and support the HFE group in generating associated documentation. You will help the team interpret and understand user feedback to improve the safety and efficacy of the devices in development. He/she will be asked to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced collaborative environment.

This is an opportunity to truly impact the usability of medical devices, as they are being designed and engineered.

As a Human Factors Engineer Intern you will:
–Assist the HFE team during all phases of the product development cycle with particular emphasis on human factors engineering and usability assessment
–Contribute to user needs/requirements gathering activities including ethnographic research, use case analysis, and/or task analysis
–Assist in formative usability studies during concept development and summative usability studies for human factors validation
–Participate in analytical use risk analysis to predict and/or assess use error risk potential and identify design mitigations

Desired Skills and Experience:
–Currently studying for a BS, BA or MA in Human Factors, Cognitive/Experimental Psychology, Kinesiology, Industrial Design or Biomedical Engineering with extensive human factors coursework
–Understanding of current medical device Human Factors standards and FDA Guidance (ie. ISO/IEC-62366-1, ANSI/HE-75, etc.)
–Interest in AR/VR technologies
–Exceptional oral and written technical communication skills (technical writing background is a plus)
–Empathy and excellent communication with studies participants
–Encompasses a strong, self-motivated work ethic
–Willingness to juggle several projects at once
–Encompasses a positive attitude and good sense of humor (At Worrell, we take pride in our fun and unique culture!)
